Berthing

Happily not everyone taking part in this event is based in Hamble, and so this is the page that tells you all about places to park your yacht, places to get your boat craned in and slipways to use, and other useful information for the travelling yachtswoman.

RSnYC

Pontoon Berthing

The club is able to provide berthing for visiting competitors from Friday 3 July to Sunday 5 July on its competition pontoons. Berthing is charged at £2.55 per metre per night. The pontoons have water and electrical supplies (The standard £12 card should last you all weekend) and visitors may also use the facilities within the club house.

Berths can be booked through the RSrnYC. Please note that space on the competition pontoons is limited so early booking is recommended.

Crane Facilities

The RSrnYC has cranage facilities on site for boats up to 5 tonnes. Boats up to 3 tonnes can use the crane at full travel, boats up to 5 tonnes can use the crane at half travel. The crane can accommodate fixed point or sling systems, and the club has slings available.

We are pleased to tell you that vounteer members of RSnYC will be available to operate the crane and therefore during the times shown below cranage will be available at the reduced cost of £36 (to include a hoist in and out).

The crane will be available for lift in at the following times.

1700 - 2000 Friday 3 July

0700 - 0800 Saturday 4 July

The crane will be available for lift out at the following times.

1500 - 1800 Sunday 5 July

To ensure that we can get everyone in please contact RSrnYC to book in cranage, so that we can ensure everyone is accommodated. This will be run on a first come first served basis once you have entered. If the club are unable to accommodate you in these time slots, you may request the bosun to run an out of hours lift in/out at additional cost, or use alternative crane facilities down the road at HYS (see below), or slipways at various MDL sites (see below).

Please Note: Trailers and cars cannot be left on the club car park. A number of alternatives are available, please contact us if you need assistance finding somewhere to put your trailor/vehicle for the weekend. (See travel for more info)

Hamble Village Marinas

HYS

Locate 10 mins walk from the club, HYS is the racing sailor's haven. Full of grand prix boats, it'll be buzzing the weekend of the WOKC as the Level 45 class are also out to play (Farr45's, DK 46's, Swan 45 etc). The pontoons are run by Jim and his team, and it's all designed to work like clock work. Onshore facilities are basic but clean, but the cafe is tops and there are sailmakers, and boat builders on site for repairs. Also includes a car park, though it's likely to be full if you don't get there Friday night.

Yachts up to 9.2m = £2.30 per metre per night

Yachts between 9.3m and 15.2m = £2.65 per metre per night

Electricity is £2.75 per day and water is free.

HYS also has a hoist for boats up to 1.5 tonnes, which is used regularly by local sportsboats. HYS is also able to offer temporary trailer storage.

Early booking is recommended for all HYS services as they are the top local yard and it gets booked up fast. Contact

MDL Marinas

MDL are the largest marina operator in the UK and have no less than three marinas in Hamble.

All three marinas charge...

up to 12.5m = £3.20 per metre per night including electricity.

Port Hamble is next door to HYS (see above) and is 10 mins walk from the club. A good quality marina with nice new shoreside facilities (and you can still pop to HYS for a bacon butty!)

Hamble Point is closest to the river entrance, and if you cut across the common (not recommended at night ladies!) is a 15min walk to the club, (or a 30 min walk round via the road.) Again, good facilities, though not as new as Port Hamble, but does have a lot of services on site, much like HYS.

If your trailer and vehicle are suitable for slipway launch, then you can use their slipway for £29.40 a go, and store your trailer for £29.45 per week.

Mercury Yacht Harbour is furthest from the club, but still only a 20 minute walk. Located next door to Riverside Park (see accommodation page) it has a restaurant and chandlery on site.

If your trailer and vehicle are suitable for slipway launch, then you can use their slipway for £10 per go, and store your trailer for £21 per week.

Hamble River Marinas

There are also two very good marinas further up the river Hamble, and whilst you'll have to travel further to reach the club, if you don't fancy staying in busy Hamble these might well suit you.

Premier Marina - Swanwick

Part of the Premier Marina chain this is another good quality marina, with lots of good shore side facilities including chandlery, sailmaker, lots of domestic facilities and a great restaurant. Its about a 15 min drive from RSnYC.

£2.89 per metre per day (minimum charge £16) including electricity.

Universal Marina

Nice marina, located on the opposite side of the river to Hamble village, providing good shoreside facilities, and the opportunity to ogle at all the classic metre yachts they have in the Metre Shed. It takes about 20mins to drive round to the RSnYC from Universal.

£3.10 per metre per day.

Please note that all prices were correct at the time of going to press, but the event organisers can be held in no way responsible for changes of price in the intervening period. We would strongly advise you to check prices with individual operators prior to booking.
