About

The Women’s Open Keelboat Championship is a girls' weekend for sailors. The crews will be 100% women. The men will be on the committee boat, driving RIBS and in the bar for the party in the evening! We’re going to deliver top quality racing, accommodating a range of experience and age groups across key one design and handicap fleets.

The aim is to provide a format which is not currently available on the Solent racing calendar. The four of us raced together in the summer of 2007 in an all female team and had such a good laugh at the same time as really challenging ourselves. We’re just regular girls wanting to provide a really good weekend of competitive racing.

Who we are...

Emma Beagley

'I've been sailing since the age of 8 moving from dinghies to yachts, via various adventures on the way. Working for Marina Projects in Gosport, I'm never far from the water and through my friends am lucky enough to be able to enjoy the waters of the Solent on a regular basis and all it has to throw at a bowgirl!'

Jody Slater

'I got the sailing bug as a kid racing GP14s with my Dad on Lake Windermere, since then sailing has pretty much taken over my life. Inshore, offshore, I'll give anything boating based a go atleast once. Currently I'm found mostly doing pit or mast on a Farr 45, running around like an idiot on Starspray and playing in a mates Flying 15.'

Stephanie Danby

'After dinghy instructing rather than racing for years, I got to be No. 3 pit on my parents’ boat in 1997. Since then I've progressed to helming and occasionally stumble around on the bow! Some of the best racing I have done was with these girls, I have never laughed so much on board a boat whilst racing competitively!'

Vicky Lincoln

'My parents first took me sailing regularly when I was 18mths old and from that point the rest is history! More recently I’ve been involved in a wide range of campaigns, inshore and offshore and some more successful than others I’ve been lucky to meet lots of great people and participate in great events in the UK and abroad.'
